Arashi announces the big Dome tour + New album

On September 20th, popular group Arashi held the first day of their 2-day live “AraFes” at the National Olympic Stadium.  At the concert more than 70,000 were in the audience and it was announced that they would be releasing a new album “Popcorn” on October 31st, and holding a big Dome tour.

Starting at Kyocera Dome Osaka on November 16th, Arashi will make the rounds in the 5 big Domes of Japan (Kyocera Dome Osaka, Sapporo Dome, Fukuoka Yahoo! JAPAN Dome, Tokyo Dome, and Nagoya Dome). With a total of 16 performances, and including this 2-day “AraFes” concert, the total number of audience will reach 870,000 people for 18 performances.  (You can check the schedule for the Dome tour here.)

As announced previously, this ”AraFes” concert was different from Arashi’s regular concerts, as its set list was based on fans’ requests which were sent about 270,000 of them.  Arashi performed about 40 songs that were ranked top among their singles, tracks from albums, as well as the coupling songs.  Also, there was no Johnny’s Jr. members who usually appear as the back dancers, for this concert, so when each member performed their solo tracks, fellow members participated as the back dancers.  This hard stage made the members out of breath fast even during the first half of the concert, and a member Ninomiya Kazunari said, “I’ve never felt grateful toward Jr. members this much before.”

As the member Matsumoto Jun declared “Arashi’s summer never ends. Five of us will make 70,000 of you happy!”, the 70,000 audience kept giving Arashi enthusiastic cheers during the whole 3 and a half hours concert.

Arashi to hold 「Ara-fes」 in Kokuritsu in 2012 and 2013 Read more at Arama They Didn't: http://aramatheydidnt.livejournal.com/4051401.html#ixzz21Fu45IoJ

Popular group Arashi announced on July 20 that they will be holding concerts in Tokyo National Olympic Stadium (Kokuritsu) on September 20 and 21 for five consecutive years since 2008. The concert will mobilize a total of 140k audiences on two days. At the same time it is also determined that they will be holding concerts at Kokuritsu in 2013 before the stadium enters into large-scale renovation after next year.

Entitled 「Ara-fes」 "Arashi Festival" for this year and next year's live, the requests from fans will be recruited on their homepage and songs voted as according to ranking will eventually become the main configuration of the concert's concept. This is a first time attempt for Johnny's to seek requests from fans and it is a proposal by Arashi members themselves.

Aiba Masaki (29) "As there are only two years remaining before the stadium enters renovation, we are thinking of making this live different from what we usually does. I want to make a «Best of the Best» Arashi Live." Usually for Johnny's concerts, large numbers of Johnny's juniors will be mobilized and it is revealed that "This time it will be performed by the 5 of us only. We wanted to make a new challenge, and honestly it is kind of scary but we talked about having a performance with only the 5 of us. 70k audience + 5 of us. We want to make it gaudy as it is the festival of Arashi."

In addition Aiba, Ohno Satoshi (31) and Matsumoto Jun (28) visited New York at the end of June for site observation in reference to concert productions, and has been to Broadway musicals, Cirque du Soleil's show 「Zarkana」 and so forth. "We want to make the best of what we have studied and create a stage that is different from what we have done so far".

The list of songs is subjected to a total of 240 songs including singles, couplings and album tracks. Approximately the top 30 songs in ranking will be selected and performed. Voting will be accepted from July 21 afternoon until July 31 6pm on Johnny's official mobile site http://www.johnnys-web.com/.

Arashi is in new TV CM for JAL

Popular group Arashi has starred in a new CM for Japan Airlines (JAL) as their image characters.
In this new endorsement, they are featured in a summer vacation trip with an alien who offers a free trip to these five members, and they energetically take up the offer. However, the travel proves to be less than satisfactory due to the unfamiliar noise, foul-smelling environment, and odd colored drinks. Despite that, they endure the situation because it’s free until member Ninomiya Kazunari states, “But there is JAL’s Sakitoku deal available,” and introduces JAL’s advance purchase deal.
During the shooting of this new endorsement, the members of the group showed much curiousity in the alien, who took two hours to put on his special makeup, and asked questions like, “How do you breathe?”
This new CM, “JAL ARASHI LABO: Summer Vacation Sakitoku ‘One’s Feeling While Driving’”, started airing in Japan on the 9th.
Check out the CM and the making below!
